PADDLESPORTS at belfast boat club
We’re perfectly positioned at Belfast Boat Club to use the beautiful section of the River Lagan which meanders through Belfast along the Annadale, Stranmillis & Ormeau Embankments, and our paddling programmes will enable people of all ages to enjoy that resource for mental and physical health and wellbeing through the medium of paddlesports (canoeing, kayaking ;& stand up paddleboarding)
Participants will see the area from the unique perspective of the river, including local birds (perhaps a graceful heron or the flash of vivid blue as a kingfisher darts past), and you might even catch a glimpse of Sammy, our friendly seal!
We have a variety of courses available throughout the year to suit all levels and ages including:
- Over 50s courses
- Adult starter courses
- New You womens course
- Lunchtime Paddle
- Youth Starter courses
- Holiday camps
- After Schools Club
All of these courses are open to members and non-members with members able to benefit from up to 50% discount. For more details on current courses or to book a place click here.
Belfast Boat Club Paddlers
Belfast Boat Club Paddlers is the newest Paddlesports club in Northern Ireland, and we are inviting new members to join. It’s a club with a difference. While our main focus is getting out on the water on your craft of choice (canoe, kayak or paddleboard), members will also have access to the fantastic facilities at Belfast Boat Club, Stranmillis:- one of Belfast’s longest established and most highly regarded sports clubs
Situated on the banks of the Lagan at Stranmillis weir, members have easy access to the River Lagan, with a choice of
- Paddling downstream from the weir, under 5 bridges towards the city centre at the Lagan Weir (and you can keep going along Belfast Lough and out to sea if you wish), or
- Going upstream from the weir towards Shaw’s bridge. This section of river is much more rural, and the beauty of the scenery from the perspective of the river is awe inspiring
We have a weekly club night on a Thursday evening from March to October. For more information please contact Paddlesports Manager David Boyle at firstname.lastname@example.org or 028 9066 5012 – option 4.
